Her lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Here’s part two of my Pixi Pretties review (you can catch up on the Chloe Morello collection here.) This time, I’m reviewing the Pixi beauty X Weylie Hoang “Dimensional eye creator” set. The set includes an eye shadow palette with 6 shades and a double sided eye liner. The collection was created to be the everyday essentials to for a perfect everyday eye look. Let’s take a peek at the Pixi beauty X Weylie Hoang collection then shall we.
Dimensional eye palette
The shade range in this palette is gorgeous. A mix of 3 shimmers and 3 mattes are all you need to create a soft everyday glam look, or really add some sparkle to finish a look off. Adore that this palette can be played up or down and with only 6 colours, there’s a lot that can be done with it. The shades are all super pigmented, the shimmers are intense when used with a damp brush. They blend really nicely together and are soft and creamy to touch. I did notice if you pick up to much shimmer it bunches up a little so start soft and build up. This palette has been put to good use already and all the shades are super long lasting They stayed put and didn’t fade away after a few hours.
Palette swatches (one swipe)
Shades top to bottom
Itty Bitty, Gurl!, Potato, Sista, bomb, beautis
As you can see from the swatches, the colour pay off is rich in pigment and top quality. I really love the shimmer pink shade “Gurl” I don’t own anything like it and it looks really pretty on my lids. The palette is faultless in my opinion.
Double sided liner.
Love the concept of this liner. One side is a kohl pencil which is soft, creamy and pigmented. The pencil is great for tight lining and can be smoked out for a more dramatic look. The pencil can also create thin lines or be used on an angle for a thicker liner. The other side is a felt tip style liquid liner. These are my favourite types of liquid liners because you can be so precise and get right down in the lash line. The tip of the nib is really little so great for getting a sharp wing.
HOWEVER, when I swatched the felt tip side, it immediately starting bleeding into the fine lines of my hands and it looked really messy. I tried it on my eyes and it did pretty much the same thing, leaving a messy line across the lid. The liquid liner was quite hard to remove, so unless you’re super sharp at wing liners or have a lot of fine lines around your eyes then I’d give this a miss.
Final thoughts?
Overall, I liked the set. The palette is beautiful and the shade range is right up my street. It’s small and compact so I can pop it in my bag with me which is great. I love the quality of the shadows and I think Weylie done a super job with them. The pencil side of the liner is really good and I’m reaching for it a lot. The liquid side was a little disappointing though, I expected more. For £22 it’s a pretty good deal and it’s worth picking up for the palette alone. You can pick up yours here.
Question time: Have you tried any of the Pixi pretties products yet? What’s been your favourite collaboration?
