Friction Free Shaving Review

June 7, 2018

  1. Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Let’s not lie, shaving is such a ball ache, isn’t it? I find the whole process really dull and boring, not to mention time consuming. After you’ve spent a good half hour de-fuzzing yourself, you’re silky smooth, but only for a day or two. Then we’re at it again. As a woman who has excessive hair growth, I feel the need to shave frequently, but I always end up with a rash. After looking into ways of preventing razor burn (what causes the rash) I stumbled across friction free shaving.

Philips Lumea- 8 week progress

August 24, 2017

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all well!
If you’re a regular here then you might have seen that I started the Philips Lumea IPL laser treatment back in June. For as long as I can remember, I’ve suffered with excessive hair growth. It was something I was very aware and self conscious of. I started this journey by publishing the post “Living with excessive hair growth” . Posting that was really hard for me but I’m glad I did because it was time to close that chapter and move on.

Philips Lumea – First impression

June 19, 2017

Hey loveliess, Welcome back!
I hope you’re all warm and well!

I’m just gonna throw this out there and say that I have the best boyfriend in the whole world, for our 6 year anniversary he surprised me with an at home laser hair removal device. If you read my overly personal post on living with excessive hair growth you’ll know that hair removal is something I’ve struggled with since hitting puberty at age 12. I finally now have a long term solution to my problems and I couldn’t be happier!

My first treatment.
Before using my Lumea, I made sure I read the entire instruction manual so I was confident in what I was doing before getting started. The booklet stated that all area’s need to be shaved before using your IPL device. I was so nervous to use it for the first time, I was expecting some intense burning pain and lets face it, who’s okay with inflicting that on themselves? After a few minuets, I build up the courage and zapped my freshly shaved underarm area. Considering I used the highest intensity light, there was literally no pain whatsoever, just an ever so slight warmth, which I was more than happy about. I continued on to finish my under arm area, which literally took about 2 or 3 minuets. I moved onto my tummy area and had no pain there either. Shane was so kind to do my lower back for me (that’s true love right there) and again, super quick and no pain! The following day I done my jawline, chin, upper lip and neck which are the area’s that bother me the most. The whole facial area took around 10 minuets because I wanted to make sure I covered the whole area. My legs naturally took a while longer, around half hour or so and it was quite difficult to get round the back. You will notice a the slight smell of burnt hair, don’t worry though it’s normal (And that just means it’s working)

Results?
You won’t see viable results right away with IPL because it’s a gradual process that happens over the course of around 8 weeks, so don’t go into this thinking one treatment will leave you hair free (but wouldn’t that be nice). What you should see is some hairs naturally shed and an ever so slight delay in regrowth. I’ve noticed the hair on my lower back has taken significantly longer to grow back so yay for that, but other area’s it’s been hard to tell.

My next treatment?
My next treatment due two weeks after the first. There’s a handy Lumea app you can download and it will send you reminders of when your treatments are due.

I will do another post in two weeks with an update on how my treatment is going so keep your eyes peeled for that, but in the mean time if you have any questions, drop them in the comment section below and I will get back to you

Thank you so much for being here, I really appreciate it.

Kisses and Love

xoxo
