Soph Extra spice palette || Review and Swatches

September 2, 2018

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
I’m probably the last person to publish their review on the Soph Extra spice palette but I thought I’d do it anyway. I wanted time to really be able to experiment with all the shades and see how they work on me. If you don’t know who Soph is, click here to see her Youtube chanel. Being such a massive fan of the first Soph palette I really had high hopes for this one. Obviously you guys know the I had to get it on launch (but the bank account said no *Sad Face*). Never the less, I have my thoughts, swatches are done and it’s time to get stuck into it.

Soph Extra spice palette

Soph Extra spice palette – Shades

Included in this palette, are a mixture of 18 shades. Some shimmer, but mainly matte. The colour story is beautiful. I can totally get the idea behind this palette. It’s like the extension of the first. With more daring and bold shades, it’s that little ‘extra spice’ missing from the last. This palette is still wearable for the everyday look, and the added extra of a more glam, or day to night look. Immediately I was drawn to the yellows. Yellow shadow is something I’ve been gravitating towards a lot recently so I was pleased to see them in there. There’s also a few unusual shades. Like nothing I currently own. The shades ‘Infinity’ and ‘Aurora’ are unique and beautiful in their own right. Both give be the festive vibe. In fact, this whole palette screams Autumn/Winter vibes. I’m so here for it.

Soph Extra spice palette- Application

Having used almost all the shades, I have a pretty good indication on how these work for me now. There’s definitely consistency through out, which is amazing. The shades are buildable, blendable and easy to apply. Formulation wise, the mattes could be a little more in ya face, but the shimmers are damn good! From swatching, I knew I’d fall in love with the shades ‘Romance’ and ‘LA sun’. They actually look really nice together on the eye. So blinding!
In terms of lasting power, the shimmers stayed put! They didn’t fade away or smudge. A few of the lighter matte shades I found to fade throughout the day. So if you’re using them for a simple everyday look, I’d take into consideration you may need to re-apply.

Top Row– Ideal for a  soft, neutral everyday kinda glam.

Soph Extra spice palette

Middle row – Cute  but bold pops of colour to play with.

Bottom row– Probably my favourite. Adds a deeper more intense colour. Ideal for the Autumn/Winter looks.

Soph Extra spice palette- Final thoughts

Really pleased with this palette overall. Compliments the first soph palette without being to similar. Love the pops of colour throughout the palette and I now have some different shades in my collection. For a tenner, this is well worth picking up. Creamy, pigmented and blendable. What more could you ask for? Over the next few months and the lead up to Christmas, I can see me hitting pan on a few shades already. If you’re starting in makeup and want to experiment with colour, this is perfect.

Congratulations to Soph and Revolution for smashing another collaboration.
I hope to see more in the future

I love to see influences (even ones I don’t watch!) do really great collabs. It’s so motivating. To be perfectly honest, I’m not very “out there” with my make up so a lot of these colours would probably be a bit dark and bold for little ol me! xxx

I LOVE this palette!! The colour range is fabulous and it’s so good for this season. I did find a similar thing with the lighter mattes for example the yellow fades a bit with wear but I still love it! I haven’t actually reached for it that much recently but I’m sure I’ll be using it much more in the coming months!

The palette looks great, although not one I would buy. I am also a fan of Soph and really like when they do collabs really well and actually put out a good product rather than just chucking something together for it to be sold for money.

This has honestly been my favourite palette since I bought it a couple of months ago, I’m so in love. Plus, for such an affordable price I can’t believe how amazing the quality is! I love it just as much as my Morphe palettes which is a big claim. I’d love to see what kind of looks you create with Extra Spice! x
