Carmi MUA x Revolution kiss of fire palette – Review and Swatches

June 24, 2018

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
As someone who spends hours upon hours watching makeup videos on Youtube, I couldn’t help but feel so excited and proud when I first heard about this palette! Revolution beauty have teamed up with Carmi MUA to create this gorgeous palette! The Kiss of fire palette contains 10 eye shadows and two highlighters. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and have a play. Let’s get into the swatches and review shall we!?

Kiss of fire palette

Eyeshadow

The kiss of fire palette contains 10 eye shadows. 4 mattes and 6 shimmers, so a good selection. The colour scheme of the palette is super and reflects Carmi’s quirky personality well. In terms of formulation, the mattes are a little dry but they do blend well. The shimmers are lush! The two pink shades are a big hit. I love that there’s a yellow in there too for the Bibi’s!
The shadows apply really nicely and they’re very pigmented. I had a little trouble with the black though, it wasn’t as intense as I like so I had to double layer it. Nothing major, just something to note.

Friction Free Shaving Review

June 7, 2018

  1. Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Let’s not lie, shaving is such a ball ache, isn’t it? I find the whole process really dull and boring, not to mention time consuming. After you’ve spent a good half hour de-fuzzing yourself, you’re silky smooth, but only for a day or two. Then we’re at it again. As a woman who has excessive hair growth, I feel the need to shave frequently, but I always end up with a rash. After looking into ways of preventing razor burn (what causes the rash) I stumbled across friction free shaving.

Pixi beauty X Dulce Candy Review

April 15, 2018

Hey lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Here is the final part of my #Pixipretties review. Last but not least the Pixi beauty X Dulce Candy collaboration. Dulce created a 9 shade lip palette and a multi use brightening and highlighting palette. Both look absolutely beautiful in pan and have universal shades included  everyone. Shall we dive straight into the products and swatches?

Pixi beauty X Dulce Candy

Café con Dulce

At first glace, I assumed this was an eye shadow palette but after reading up on the product, it can be used for many thing. The concept behind this palette was to help brighten and accentuate your beauty. Dulce created her ideal “go-to” palette for highlighting, cheeks and eyes. With a cream to dry formula, these shades feel so soft and buttery to touch. Really really easy to blend and have blinding pigment. Used with a super light hand you can sweep the colour across your cheeks for an everyday subtle glow or dampen a brush for intense pigmentation. I love that there’s a good veration of shades to choose from. Anyone can use this palette regardless of their skin tone which is something that beauty community needs more of. Pictured below are one swipe finger swatches.

Pixi beauty X Dulce CandyBrillante, Dulce, Caramelo
The first row of shades are perfect for pale skin tones, and all have a golden hue to them. I’ve used these a few times and they look really pretty on the skin.

Pixi beauty X Dulce CandyPiruli, Pan Dulce, Estrella
3 gorgeous pink shades that can be used as a subtle blush or compliments rosy skin tones as a highlight.

Pixi beauty X Dulce CandyBon-Bon, Tamarindo, Morenita
For me, these shades are too deep to use as highlighter but they double up as the most beautiful shimmer eye shadow.

Pixi beauty X Dulce Candy – Café con Dulce palette final thoughts?

In terms of palettes, this isn’t anything I haven’t seen before. However, I do love the quality of the shades, their lasting power and how versatile they are. The palette is slim and lightweight which means it’s perfect for travel and I think I’ve found my new favourite highlighter (Dulce.) It’s great that the shades can be used on the skin, cheeks and eyes, this palette will appeal to a lot of people. It’s a little expensive at £28 but when you break it down, it works out about £3 a colour, that’s a pretty good deal.

Dulce lip candy palette.

When it comes to lip products, I usually prefer them in stick or liquid lip form. For professional makeup artists though, this is such a staple to have in your collection. The whole colour story screams spring time to me. With 9 large pan lip colours, there’s a good choice but I wish they weren’t all pinks. I’m more of a nude lip kinda girl so I’m not sure how much use I will get from this but anyone who loves a pink lip will adore this palette. There’s a good mix of bold, subtle and muted pink shades which was something I did like about the palette. I gave a few a try and they applied fine with a lip brush. Didn’t look patchy or streaky. The felt comfortable to wear, with no drying or cracking throughout the day. Apparently the palette is formulated with minerals and anti-oxidents which is probably why they feel velvety soft and nourishing. The palette can be used for blush too which is a great touch.

Pixi beauty X Dulce Candy – Lip candy palette final thoughts?

As far as lip shades goes, pink isn’t my first choice, but I’m not mad at this palette. As you can see from the above swatches, the colour is solid and full of pigmentation. I enjoyed how they felt on the lips and I think the colour range reflects Dulce’s bright and vibrant personality. I wouldn’t reach for this everyday, but if I was feeling adventurous then I’d have a play around. For £28 it’s at an okay price point. I just wish there was a nude version with the same formula.

Pixi beauty X Weylie Hoang Review

April 11, 2018

Her lovelies, I hope you’re all warm and well!
Here’s part two of my Pixi Pretties review (you can catch up on the Chloe Morello collection here.) This time, I’m reviewing the Pixi beauty X Weylie Hoang “Dimensional eye creator” set. The set includes an eye shadow palette with 6 shades and a double sided eye liner. The collection was created to be the everyday essentials to for a perfect everyday eye look. Let’s take a peek at the Pixi beauty X Weylie Hoang collection then shall we.

Dimensional eye palette

The shade range in this palette is gorgeous. A mix of 3 shimmers and 3 mattes are all you need to create a soft everyday glam look, or really add some sparkle to finish a look off. Adore that this palette can be played up or down and with only 6 colours, there’s a lot that can be done with it. The shades are all super pigmented, the shimmers are intense when used with a damp brush. They blend really nicely together and are soft and creamy to touch. I did notice if you pick up to much shimmer it bunches up a little so start soft and build up. This palette has been put to good use already and all the shades are super long lasting They stayed put and didn’t fade away after a few hours.

Palette swatches (one swipe)

Pixi beauty X Weylie HoangShades top to bottom
Itty Bitty, Gurl!, Potato, Sista, bomb, beautis

As you can see from the swatches, the colour pay off is rich in pigment and top quality. I really love the shimmer pink shade “Gurl” I don’t own anything like it and it looks really pretty on my lids. The palette is faultless in my opinion.

Double sided liner.

Love the concept of this liner. One side is a kohl pencil which is soft, creamy and pigmented. The pencil is great for tight lining and can be smoked out for a more dramatic look. The pencil can also create thin lines or be used on an angle for a thicker liner. The other side is a felt tip style liquid liner. These are my favourite types of liquid liners because you can be so precise and get right down in the lash line. The tip of the nib is really little so great for getting a sharp wing.

HOWEVER, when I swatched the felt tip side, it immediately starting bleeding into the fine lines of my hands and it looked really messy. I tried it on my eyes and it did pretty much the same thing, leaving a messy line across the lid. The liquid liner was quite hard to remove, so unless you’re super sharp at wing liners or have a lot of fine lines around your eyes then I’d give this a miss.

Final thoughts?

Overall, I liked the set. The palette is beautiful and the shade range is right up my street. It’s small and compact so I can pop it in my bag with me which is great. I love the quality of the shadows and I think Weylie done a super job with them. The pencil side of the liner is really good and I’m reaching for it a lot. The liquid side was a little disappointing though, I expected more. For £22 it’s a pretty good deal and it’s worth picking up for the palette alone. You can pick up yours here.

Question time: Have you tried any of the Pixi pretties products yet? What’s been your favourite collaboration?
